Danish farmers are at the very top with productivity measured as kg milk produced per. work hour. Now they will be even better!
The European organization European Dairy Farmers are doing benchmarking on members’ financial results. 300 milk producers from Europe and Canada participate in the comparison and the Danish group is on top of productivity closely followed by the Netherlands.
The position is supported by a Finnish research report from March 2013, which ranks Denmark as the most efficient milk producing country in Europe. The report also concludes that the ending of the quota system will significantly redistribute milk production in the European countries with Denmark as one of the key countries.

There are no other known records in the world by the same method in all countries. Therefore, EDF cost-comparison are the most secure.
Will be the best
Some use the word “productivity” as a synonym for performance level, but the correct definition is produced per kg. work hour. When it comes to milk producers we talk of productivity as kg. of milk produced per. work hour.
When the Danish farmers have such a high position, it is also possible to become the best in the world! When you are good at something, it’s easier to get even better. It’s fun and there’s a lot of money to have a high productivity. Therefore, some of the Danish participants in EDF started a focus group with Lean Farming® to become the world’s best. They do it, of course, to become more efficient themselves.
The work will start in September this year and efforts are needed in the next year to become more efficient. The goal is to increase the lead in the statement at the next EDF conference in Germany, which will be held in June 2015 and be ready as the world’s best in the 2016th
More milk without investment
There must be produced a lot of milk in Denmark in the coming years. At the same time it is also the best to do it without investing and you can do it by a dedicated focus on productivity. It is simply about working smarter (not harder). It moves when employees are involved and the competition part helps drive results forward.
